A Apple account after a death

Apple's Digital Legacy program gives pre-designated Legacy Contacts access to iCloud data with an access key. Without a Legacy Contact, a court order is generally required.

Your options

  • Legacy Contact (set up in advance) uses the access key plus death certificate
  • Without Legacy Contact: request account deletion with a court order

What you will need

  • Legacy Contact access key and death certificate
  • Without it: a court order naming the requester as rightful inheritor of the data
